Monumental stained glass panel depicting The Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, signed and dated 1950 by Brazilian Franciscan artist Fray Arnaldo Marcolino Maas.
The composition portrays the angel Gabriel announcing the birth of Christ to the Virgin Mary, rendered in richly colored glass with expressive painted detailing and traditional leadwork. Luminous cobalt blues form the background, contrasted by vivid reds, greens, and warm flesh tones that bring the figures forward with striking clarity.
A Latin inscription incorporated into the design reads: “Et Verbum Caro Factum Est,” translating to “And the Word was made flesh.” The panel remains housed within a substantial wooden architectural frame, giving the piece strong presence suitable for display in a chapel, gallery, or architectural setting.
The work originates from a private family collection and is accompanied by a Spanish-language appraisal report citing a valuation of $40,000.
Dimensions:
Approx. 75 in. H × 36 in. W
