Hand-carved sandstone sculpture by David Jeffery depicting a stylized architectural cave-dwelling form carved from a single block of naturally layered sandstone.

The composition features a natural arch formation framing simplified geometric structures that resemble small adobe or cliff dwellings. Hand-cut openings and carved recesses create depth within the composition, while the stone’s natural sedimentary bands emphasize the organic character of the material.

The sculpture displays a warm earthy palette with visible tool marks and a finely textured surface throughout. The layered sandstone creates strong horizontal striations that contribute to the visual rhythm of the piece.

This work reflects a contemplative aesthetic often associated with desert architecture and archaeological landscapes, balancing abstraction with recognizable built forms. Despite its intimate scale, the sculpture has strong dimensional presence and functions well as a standalone display piece.

Signed “David Jeffery” on the underside (see photos).

Approx. 5 inches in height (see measuring tape photo).
